Supporting Parents Of Children with Cleft Lip

What do the home visits with the Research Psychologist involve?

What is Watch & Discover?

Watch & Discover is an approach that looks at how your baby explores the world around him/her and communicates with you. It involves the research psychologist making short films of you and your baby in a play situation or doing ‘every day’ things. During the sessions you will look at these videos together with the researcher and discuss them. This can help parents to understand more about babies’ facial and social signals, and how they experience the world.

What is Support, Information and Advice?

The research psychologist will discuss with you the emotional issues that can sometimes arise for parents of a baby with a cleft, and give you the opportunity to talk about your own thoughts and feelings. She will be able to provide you with specific psychological means of managing any concerns you may have.
